Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu to Bhadrapur (Flight) to Ilam (Drive)
Ilam – 1677 m / 5501 ft – 5 hrs
Embark on your Kanchenjunga South Base Camp trek as you take an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur, providing you with spectacular views of the Himalayas. From Bhadrapur, a picturesque 5-hour drive awaits, leading you to the charming town of Ilam at an elevation of 1677 meters (5501 feet).
Day 2: Ilam to Taplejung (Drive)
Taplejung – 1820 m / 5971 ft – 5 hrs
After a restful night in Ilam, your journey continues with a 5-hour drive to Taplejung, situated at an altitude of 1820 meters (5971 feet). As you traverse the scenic route, soak in the beauty of the landscapes, marking the transition towards the starting point of your trek.
Day 3: Taplejung to Lali Kharka
Lali Kharka – 1880 m / 4166 ft – 6 hrs
Your trek officially begins as you depart from Taplejung and ascend to Lali Kharka. This leg of the journey takes approximately 6 hours, and you'll find yourself at an elevation of 1880 meters (4166 feet) by the end of the day.
Day 4: Lali Kharka to Khesewa
Khesewa – 1960 m / 6102 ft – 6 hrs
Continue your ascent through the picturesque terrain, trekking for about 6 hours from Lali Kharka to reach Khesewa at an altitude of 1960 meters (6102 feet).
Day 5: khesewa to Pumphe Danda
Pumphe Danda – 1780 m / 8234 ft – 5 hrs
Today's trek takes you from Khesewa to Pumphe Danda, a journey lasting around 5 hours and culminating at an elevation of 1780 meters (8234 feet).
Day 6: Pumphe Danda to Yamphuding
Yamphuding – 2080 m / 8956 ft – 6 hrs
The trek continues to Yamphuding, a destination situated at 2080 meters (8956 feet). This leg of the journey spans approximately 6 hours, offering both challenges and breathtaking scenery.
Day 7: Yamphuding to Torongding
Torongding – 2340 m / 11794 ft – 7 hrs
Embark on a 7-hour trek from Yamphuding to Torongding, reaching an altitude of 2340 meters (11794 feet). This part of the trail introduces you to the diverse landscapes of the Kanchenjunga region.
Day 8: Torongding to Cheram
Cheram – 3868 m / 11794 ft – 5 hrs
A 5-hour trek brings you to Cheram, nestled at 3868 meters (12702 feet). As you gain altitude, the landscapes evolve, providing a unique trekking experience.
Day 9: Cheram to Ramche
Ramche – 4160 m / 13451 ft – 3 hrs
Continue your ascent to Ramche, a location situated at 4160 meters (13451 feet). This relatively shorter 3-hour trek allows for acclimatization as you approach higher elevations. After a hour of Trek, we will reach Yalung Glacier Point known as Kanchenjunga South Base Camp for the view and celebrate our victory.
Day 10: Ramche to Torongding
Torongding – 2995 m / 13451 ft – 6 hrs
Descend from Ramche to Torongding, covering a distance of about 6 hours and reaching an altitude of 2995 meters (9806 feet). The varied terrain adds to the richness of your trekking experience.
Day 11: Torongding to Yamphuding
Yamphuding – 2080 m / 15698 ft – 7 hrs
Revisit Yamphuding on this 7-hour trek, appreciating the familiar landscapes from a different perspective at an elevation of 2080 meters (15698 feet).
Day 12: Yamphuding to Khebang
Khebang – 1910 m / 15698 ft – 4 hrs
Descend to Khebang on a 4-hour trek, experiencing the changing surroundings and reaching an elevation of 1910 meters (6266 feet).
Day 13: Khebang to Khamdime
Khamdime – 1500 m / 11794 ft – 4 hrs
Continue your descent to Khamdime, a journey lasting about 4 hours and concluding at an altitude of 1500 meters (4921 feet).
Day 14: Khamdime to Bhadrapur (Drive)
Bhadrapur – 93 m / ft – 10 hrs
Embark on a scenic 10-hour drive from Khamdime to Bhadrapur, situated at an elevation of 93 meters (305 feet), marking the end of your trekking adventure.
Day 15: Bhadrapur to Kathmandu (Flight)
Kathmandu – 1300 m / 4265 ft – 50 minutes
Conclude your journey with a 50-minute flight from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu, providing a final opportunity to gaze upon the majestic Himalayan landscape before bidding farewell to your Kanchenjunga South Base Camp trek.
